The theatre company launches as full-scale production company with this brand new production of August Strindberg’s Miss Julie, directed by Gary Condes.

Running for four weeks, the production stars Danielle Henry, Charlie Dorfman and Laura Greenwood and features costume and set designs by Carla Goodman and lighting and sound design by Joe Price.

On Midsummer’s Eve, 1888, wishes are meant to come true. But, as Miss Julie becomes ever more deeply entangled with her father’s valet, dreams turn to disappointment – with tragic consequences. Strindberg’s masterly study of class, desire, and the ties that bind us caused a scandal when it was first performed, and remains searingly relevant today.

Buckland Theatre Company was set up in 2015 by Charlie Dorfman to provide opportunities for creatives to work together. It has run weekly readings of works written by the likes of  Tennessee Williams, Eugene O’Neill, August Wilson and more, but now comes its debut production in a new season of  classic and modern texts yet to be announced.

Gary Condes is a professional actor acting coach and director. He spent 20 years as a professional actor, before turning into an acting coach for the last decade.

As well as helping to form Buckland Theatre Company, Charlie Dorfman has worked as an actor and producer across film and theatre – including working closely with See Saw films to develop features such as The King’s Speech.

Laura Greenwood has worked on a number of popular television shows including Silk, The Dinner Party and Prime Suspect VII opposite Helen Mirren.

Danielle Henry’s previous stage credits include: Medea (Contact Theatre), Once Upon a Time in Wigan (Riverside Studios/Tour) and Blue (Nottingham Arts Theatre). On screen she has made appearances in Emmerdale, Doctors and Torchwood.

Miss Julie will appear at the Etcetera Theatre from the 24th February to the 19th March. For more information and to book tickets visit: https://www.ticketea.co.uk/tickets-theatre-miss-julie/.
