Another year, another James Bond film and to be honest I thought my interest in the film franchise had long gone. Casino Royale confused me, Quantum of Solace couldn’t even hold my attention and although I haven’t seen Skyfall I refuse to watch it – you can’t kill Judi Dench!
But now the new trailer for Spectre is out and I can’t help but feel a bit excited from what I can see. It seems as though all the classic associations with James Bond have returned – plenty of explosions, sharp dialogue and car chases.
Judging from the trailer, it seems as though Daniel Craig is relaxing a little bit into the role. In Casino Royale I found him to be too intense and almost uncomfortable to watch (of course I’m in the minority here) which is perhaps why I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would.
It will also be interesting to see how Ralph Fiennes fits in as the new ‘M’ . Again judging by the trailer his take is someone who won’t stand for any nonsense – even from James Bond.
But the main thing to take away from this trailer is that it certainly is more of a ‘traditional’ James Bond than perhaps previous recent films have been, yet Spectre still keeps the high quality production values that many people have come to depend upon in a James Bond film.
So will I go and see it? On the basis of this trailer I think I might – even though I don’t consider myself to be a die-hard James Bond fan, I have to admit whoever made this trailer has certainly been able to capture my attention. I just hope that they haven’t put all the great and interesting parts into the trailer and not left any mystery and surprise for the film itself.
