Is it ever too early to start thinking about booking tickets to see a pantomime at Christmas? Well according to the Hackney Empire it is never too early!

The trailer for their 2015 pantomime (Jack and the Beanstalk) has just been released, starring Jon Snow and David Lammy (who will NOT be starring in the panto in case you were wondering):

This year’s production will see Clive Rowe treading the boards once again at the Empire as Dame Daisy Trott, while the Olivier award nominated actress Debbie Kurup will be playing Jack. The pair will be joined by Hackney Empire favourite Kat B as the snowman, with further cast yet to be announced.

Jack and the Beanstalk will be written and directed by the theatre’s Artistic Director Susie McKenna and will feature music by Steven Edis.

The production will be running at the Hackney Empire from the 21st November until the 3rd January and will feature a break dancing cow, bonkers baddies and buckets of silliness that the whole family will enjoy.

After 15 years of perpetual winter the kingdom of Hackneydale is really feeling the pinch of austerity cuts. McKenna’s production follows two stories, that of young and earnest Jack and of the HUGE scary giant. Whilst Jack is tempted by a mysterious stranger into swapping the family’s trusty old cow for a handful of magic beans, the Giant’s inventions for making gold are destroying the Earth… Can Jack and his crazy mates save the day?
