Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company to Broadcast Live in Cinemas

It has been announced that the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company in collaboration with Picturehouse Entertainment, will broadcast The Winter’s Tale, Romeo and Juliet and The Entertainer live in cinemas worldwide.

The first Branagh Theatre Live production will be The Winter’s Tale at 7pm on Thursday 26th November, with tickets available to buy now. Broadcast dates for Romeo and Juliet and The Entertainer will be announced on the day of the preceding production’s broadcast. Talking about the news, Kenneth Branagh said: ” In 2015, where theatre making and film making meet is exciting. The cinema broadcasts of our plays hope tochallenge the possibilities of this relationship. We have a team of people who are experienced in both worlds. The potential results, particularly in exploring the magic of Shakespeare, should be fascinating.”

The cinema broadcast for The Winter’s Tale will be directed by Benjamin Caron, who has recently collaborated with Kenneth Branagh on the forthcoming series of Wallander, due to be broadcast on the BBC in 2016.

The Winter’s Tale is Shakespeare’s tale of obsession and redemption and is being reimagined in this new production co-directed by Rob Ashford and Kenneth Branagh.

Judi Dench will be appearing as Paulina, opposite Kenneth Branagh as Leontes. Other members of the cast includes Miranda Raison (Hermione), John Shrapnel (Camillo), Matthew Hawksley (Aegeum) and Adam Garcia (Amadis) .
