The Royal Opera House has today announced that Welsh tenor Wynne Evans has withdrawn from singing the role of Scaramuccio in the upcoming performances of Ariadne auf Naxos due to personal reasons.

This role will now be performed by Korean tenor and former Jette Parker Young Artist Ji-Min Park. Park joined the Jette Parker Young Artists programme in 2007 and became a Jette Parker principle artist during the 2009-2010 season. He has previously performed the role of Scaramuccio for the Royal Opera in 2008. Other roles he has performed for the company include: Rodolfo (La Boheme), Des Grieux (Manon) and Ballad Seller (Il Tabarro).

The rest of the cast remains unchanged, including  Karita Mattila as The Prima Donna/Ariadne, Robert Dean Smith as The Tenor/Bacchus and Jane Archibald as Zerbinetta.

Ariadne auf Naxos is on at the Royal Opera House from the 10th to the 16th October.
