Northern Ballet Getting Ready to Add a Bit of Sparkle to Christmas with The Nutcracker

Northern Ballet will be treating audiences to a magical production of The Nutcracker when it heads off on tour in November, opening at the New Victoria Theatre in Woking from the 4th to the 7th November.

This much loved family Christmas favourite is set during a festive party, where the fire crackles and the pile of presents is enormous and waiting to be opened. Clara is caught up in the excitement of Christmas, becoming enchanted by her new Nutcracker doll. But as the clock strikes midnight, the Nutcracker proves to be no ordinary doll and Clara is taken on a magical journey.

Set to Tchaikovsky’s beautiful score that is performed live by the Northern Ballet Sinfonia, Northern Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker features choreography and costume designs by David Nixon (Northern Ballet’s Artistic Director), Regency style sets by Charles Cusick Smith and lighting by Mark Jonathan.

Talking about the production, David Nixon said: “The Nutcracker is one of the world’s most popular classical ballets and holds a special place in the hearts of audiences young and old. We are delighted to once again revive this charming story and add that extra bit of sparkle to the festive season for audiences.”
