Jessica Swale’s Thomas Tallis Set to Return to the Shakespeare’s Globe

It has been announced by the Shakespeare’s Globe that Jessica Swale’s Thomas Tallis will be returning to the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse from the 22nd October to the 8th November.

The production was specially commissioned for the playhouse and was a success when it originally opened at the theatre last year.

Directed by Adele Thomas, Swale’s play with music explores the life and work of the celebrated English composer and follows him through the religious and political shifts during four Tudor monarchies.

Katy Stephens is a new addition to the original cast, whose previous credits include The Oresteia (Shakespeare’s Globe) and a number of productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company including King Lear and Antony and Cleopatra.

Reprising his role as the title role of Thomas Tallis, Brendan O’Hea’s previous credits at the Globe also include roles in productions of Measure for Measure, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Duchess of Malfi.

Jessica Swale returned to the Globe over the summer with the acclaimed world premiere production of Nell Gwynn, having pleased audiences with her production of Blue Stockings in 2013.

Thomas Tallis will return to the Globe from the 22nd October until the 8th November, with tickets available to buy now.
