It has been announced that the English National Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker will return to the London Coliseum this Christmas from the 16th December to the 10th January 2016.

Its return to the Coliseum follows a successful run of the production in 2014, which saw 70,000 visitors making it a part of their festive celebrations. This version by Wayne Eagling marks the English National Ballet’s 12th full length production of The Nutcracker since first performed in 1950, its founding year.

Set on Christmas Eve in London, Clara and her enchanted Nutcracker doll discover a magical world that contains a mouse king and a handsome stranger. As the temperature drops, Clara and her loyal Nutcracker take a hot air balloon ride to the Land of the Snow, where her adventures begin.

This year’s cast will mark the debuts of Cesar Corrales, Isaac Hernandez, and guest artist Osiel Gouneo in the role of the Nephew, and Emilio Pavan, and Jinhao Zhang in the role of Nutcracker. Other principle casting includes: Alina Cojocaru, Tamara Rojo, Shiroi Kase, Laurretta Summerscales, and Erina Takahashi in the role of Clara, and Yonah Acosta, Junor Souza, Max Westwell, and James Forbat in the role of the Nephew.

The Nutcracker features choreography by Wayne Eagling, with the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, performed live by the English National Ballet Philharmonic. This production will also feature designs by Peter Farmer and lighting by David Richardson.

The Nutcracker is at the London Coliseum from the 16th December to the 10th January 2016. You can book tickets through the English National Opera , Theatre Tickets Direct.co.uk, Discount Theatre.com and Love Theatre.com .
