As we start to think more about Christmas, the Royal Opera House is preparing to bring back The Firework Maker’s Daughter to the Linbury Studio Theatre in December.
David Bruce’s opera, based on Philip Pullman’s novel of the same name, returns to the venue following its premiere in 2013 and was nominated in the 2014 Olivier Awards for Best New Opera Production.
This family Christmas show is suitable for anyone aged six years and above and uses a combination of puppetry and live projection to create effects inspired by Indonesia’s shadow puppetry tradition.
Set in the Far East, the opera tells the story of Lila, a young girl who wants to be a firework maker – just like her father and her quest to achieve this dream.
John Fulljames’s production will feature designs by Dick Bird.
The cast will include: Lucy Hall, Lauren Fagan, Wyn Pencarreg, Ross Ramgobin, Tai Oney and Peter Kirk.
The Firework Maker’s Daughter is at the Royal Opera House’s Linbury Studio Theatre from the 10th December 2015 to the 2nd January 2016. To book tickets visit: http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/the-firework-makers-daughter-by-john-fulljames .
