The full cast for the Christmas production of the Tinder Box at Charing Cross Theatre has been announced – including some familiar musical theatre performers.

Running at the Charing Cross Theatre from the 12th December until the 3rd January 2016, Tinder Box is based on Hans Christian Anderson’s classic folk tale.

Joining the previously announced Les Miserables star Mandy Holliday in the cast is: Samuel J Weir (Brian The Brave), Ceris Hine (The Gold Dog) and Bridget Costello (The Princess).

Samuel J Weir has recently appeared in productions such as Dogfight, Grand Hotel and Parade – all at the Southwark Playhouse.

Ceris Hine is back at the Charing Cross Theatre following her nomination for Best Female Performance in the Off West End Awards for USHERS: The Front of House Musical.

Bridget Costello graduated from the Royal Academy of Music and has gone onto  play the title role in Princess Ida at the Finborough Theatre.

Meanwhile, Mandy Holliday has starred as Madame Thenardier in the West End production of Les Miserables and on tour as well as Barbara in Mum’s the Word (UK No 1 tour).

The Tinder Box is based on a Scandinavian folk story Anderson learnt in his childhood and has been adapted for the stage by Mandy Holliday.

Brian the Brave, a penniless solider is returning from the war. He acquires a magic tinderbox and embarks on a quest to find his true love. This enchanting, fun-filled musical features an array of wonderful, colourful characters, cleverly combining classical music and story-telling with comedy, lots of audience interaction plus a few surprises along the way!

The production is directed by Abigail Pickard Price, designed by Christopher Hone and choreographed by Lily Howkins.
