End of the Rainbow to Embark on UK Tour in 2016

After being a huge success in the West End and on Broadway, it has been announced that End of the Rainbow will be heading on a UK tour in 2016.

The production will open at the Mercury Theatre in Colchester in February, starring Lisa Maxwell as Judy Garland. It’s final performance will be at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham on the 9th July.

Set in 1968 as Judy is preparing to make her come back in London. But off stage and shut in her hotel room, Judy is battling with her young fiancé, her devoted accompanist as well as her destructive addictions. Will she be able to get past her demons and make a come back as one of Hollywood’s biggest stars?

Featuring classic Garland songs such as ‘The Man That Got Away’ and ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’, Peter Quilter’s play is a sharp and insightful look at one of the most famous women in Hollywood’s history.

As well as Lisa Maxwell as Garland, the production will also star Gary Wilmot as Anthony and Sam Attwater as Mickey. At certain performances the role of Judy will be played by Ellen Verenieks.

End of the Rainbow will be directed by Daniel Buckroyd. Daniel has been Artistic Director of the Mercury Theatre, Colchester since July 2012, where credits includeAladdin, Noises Off, Cinderella, Macbeth, Betty Blue Eyes, The Opinion Makers, The Butterfly Lion, The History Boys, The Hired Man and Michael Morpurgo’s Friend Or Foe. It is designed by David Shields.
