World Premiere of Leo Butler’s play Boy Announced

This new play from Leo Butler will arrive at the Almeida Theatre from the 5th April, directed by Sacha Wares.

The world premiere production of Boy , will see the return of Sacha Wares to the Almeida Theatre, following on from her success of directing Game by Mike Bartlett in 2015. He is joined by a strong creative team to help bring the play to life including Miriam Buether (set design), Ultz (costume design). Other production credits include Leon Baugh (movement), Jack Knowles (lighting) and Gareth Fry (sound).

Sacha Wares is  Associate Director at the Young Vic, having previously been Associate Director at the Royal Court Theatre from 2007-2013. Her previous credits include Wild Swans (Young Vic Theatre) and Sucker Punch at the Royal Court Theatre.

Meanwhile, writer Leo Butler’s playwriting credits include Alison! A Rock Opera (Royal Court Theatre), Made of Stone (Royal Court Theatre) and Come to Where I’m from (Paines Plough/Crucible Theatre, Sheffield). His plays have been performed across the globe including South Africa, Hungary, Russia, the United States, Brazil and Australia.

Casting for the production has yet to be announced.

Boy will appear at the Almeida Theatre from the 5th April to the 28th May.
