Pop Up Opera have unveiled their spring 2016 production of Bellini’s I Capuleti e I Montecchi (The Capulets & The Montagues) – the company’s first tragedy, running from the 21st March to the 5th May.
Becoming more established with every production that they present, Pop Up Opera have to adapt their opera’s to every venue that they visit – while at the same time having to maintain a high quality performance.
For this season’s work, the company will be presenting the most tragic and best known love story of all time in I Capuleti e I Montecchi, in which two lovers Romeo and Juliet find their worlds being torn apart, set against bloody family feuds and gang rivalry.
Featuring the company’s signature ‘silent movie’ captions, the production will aim to show what an emotive experience opera can be in their most intimate show to date.
It will be directed by James Hurley who commented: ” This production will bring Pop-Up’s audiences closer to the action than ever before, conjuring an atmospheric and intimate environment that will place spectators at the heart of Bellini’s moving love story.”
The cast will include: Alice Privett,Clementine Lovell, Flora McIntosh, Katie Grosset, Cliff Zammitt Stevens,Oliver Brignall, Eugene Dillon Hooper, Andrew Tipple, Matthew Palmer and Julian Debreuil.
This latest production from Pop Up Opera will be visiting a wide variety of unexpected venues for audiences to enjoy.
