As we all get into the swing of 2016, there is plenty of shows opening that audiences do not want to miss out on. Here is a guide to some of the shows that are opening this week: 

1. Red Velvet, Garrick Theatrethis fifth production in the Kenneth Branagh Theatre company’s season of plays at the Garrick Theatre opened officially last night (round up of the reviews to follow). It sees Adrian Lester reprising his role as Ira Aldridge, which he played to great acclaim both in the Tricycle Theatre and in New York. 2. Weald, Finborough Theatrethis world premiere of Daniel Foxsmith’s play is running at the theatre from the 2nd to the 27th February and examines what it means to be a man in today’s world. Read Love London Love Culture’s preview of the show here.

3.  The Master Builder, Old Vic TheatreRalph Fiennes stars in this new production of Henrik Ibsen’s late masterpiece. It has been newly adapted by David Hare and explores themes such as life, death and control. Find out more here. 4. Rabbit Hole, Hampstead TheatreDavid Lindsay-Abaire’s Pulitzer winning drama arrives at the Hampstead Theatre, starring Claire Skinner and Tom Goodman-Hill and directed by Edward Hall.
