Tony Award winner Owen Teale will join Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen in a production of Harold Pinter’s No Man’s Land.
Directed by Sean Mathias, the production will tour the UK from the 3rd August prior to arriving in the West End from the 8th September.
Welsh actor Owen Teale will play Briggs in No Man’s Land, joining the previously announced Ian McKellen (Spooner) and Patrick Stewart (Hirst). Teale is most recently known for playing Ser Alliser Thorne in HBO’s Game of Thrones. He won a Tony Award in 1997 for his portrayal of Torvald in A Doll’s House – for which he was also nominated for an Olivier Award.
No Man’s Land will open in Sheffield from the 3rd of August, followed by dates in Newcastle, Brighton and Cardiff. The production will then travel to London, where it will open at the Wyndham’s Theatre at the 8th September for a limited 14 week season.
Sean Mathias’s production received highly acclaimed reviews at the Cort Theatre in New York, whilst in repertory alongside Waiting for Godot – which also starred McKellen and Stewart and directed by Mathias.
One summer’s evening, two ageing writers, Hirst and Spooner, meet in a Hampstead pub and continue their drinking into the night at Hirst’s stately house nearby. As the pair become increasingly inebriated, and their stories increasingly unbelievable, the lively conversation soon turns into a revealing power game, further complicated by the return home of two sinister younger men.
With further casting yet to be announced, No Man’s Land will feature set and costume designs by Stephen Brimson Lewis and lighting design by Peter Kaczorowski.
