Review Round Up… The Winter’s Tale,

The Royal Ballet is currently performing Christopher Wheeldon’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s tale of love and loss. But what have critics made of this revival?

The Guardian:**** “Winter’s Tale already looks like a ballet that can build through the interpretations of future generations.”

The Telegraph: **** “This revival confirms The Winter’s Tale as a modern classic, and it demands to be seen.”

London Dance.com: “Wheeldon has done a fine job in creating the first full-length ballet from The Winter’s Tale.”

Londonist: ***** “The original story is skilfully, and only slightly, altered to work for a predominantly visual medium, and a second viewing provides even greater opportunities to appreciate just how clever the ballet is in rendering the play’s themes.”

The Upcoming: **** “This is a production of great ambition that manages to honour Shakespeare’s plot while incorporating new elements.”

British Theatre Guide: “I can’t fault the intelligent fresh-eyed interpretation, yet it does not move me as much as perhaps it should.”

The Winter’s Tale performs at the Royal Opera House until the 10th June. To book tickets visit: Ticketmaster.co.uk, Discount Theatre.com, Love Theatre.com, Theatre People.com, UK Tickets.co.uk
