Almeida Theatre’s Production of Richard III to be Broadcast Live Around the World

The Almeida Theatre’s upcoming production of Richard III is set to be broadcast in cinemas across the globe on the 21st July.

The live broadcast of Richard III will be the first as part of the Almeida Theatre Live programme, in partnership with Picturehouse Entertainment.

Artistic Director of the Almeida Theatre Rupert Goold’s production will also be visiting  the renowned Kazalište Ulysses (Ulysses Theatre) Festival in Veliki Brijuni, Croatia from the 11 – 13 August, it has also been confirmed.

This new production of Shakespeare’s play will see Ralph Fiennes starring as the notorious villain and Vanessa Redgrave as Queen Margaret and will be broadcast to cinemas on the 21st July.

Almeida Theatre Live will offer worldwide audiences the opportunity to see plays on the stage of the Almeida for the very first time.

Talking about the news Rupert Goold said: “The chance to take the work of the Almeida to international audiences via live cinema screening is a new and timely venture for us that I’m extremely excited about.”

Almeida Artistic Director Rupert Goold(King Charles III, The Merchant of Venice,Medea) brings Shakespeare’s most notorious villain to the Almeida Theatre. 

Running at the Almeida Theatre from the 7th June to the 6th August, the full cast for Richard III also includes: : David Annen, Joseph Arkley, Osman Baig, Benedict Barker, Tom Canton, Daniel Cerqueira, Simon Coates, Josh Collins, Susan Engel, James Garnon, Mark Hadfield, Scott Handy, Lev Levermore, Finbar Lynch, Aislίn McGuckin, Joseph Mydell, Lukas Parish,  Joshua Riley, Lukas Rolfe , Joanna Vanderham, Baxter Westby and Oliver Whitehouse.

The production will feature designs by Hildegard Bechtler, costumes by Jon Morrell, sound and composition by Adam Cork, lighting by Jon Clark and fight direction by Terry King.
