In response to one of the most horrific and brutal attacks in America at Pulse Nighclub, Theatre Renegade will present a one off gala with performances of new texts and familiar pieces to commemorate the 49 victims at Pulse nightclub.
Taking place at the St James Theatre studio tomorrow night (25th June) and against the backdrop of London’s Pride celebrations, In Response to…The Orlando Attack is a response to the deadliest incident of violence against LGBTQ people in America.
Talking about the news Ryan Forde Iosco, Artistic Director of Theatre Renegade, said: “As we all struggle to understand the unspeakable horror, we are coming together as an artistic community to raise our voices; in memory, in protest, in solidarity. As a company we feel incredibly angered, frustrated and saddened by the attack that took place on June 12th to the LGBTQ community in Orlando. I couldn’t simply stand by and let this pass without doing something when so many of us feel affected by this tragedy.”
All the profits from the evening’s events will be donated to Stonewall, in aid of their work supporting LGBTQ communities.
Performers confirmed for the event so far include Alice Fearn, soon to be alternate Elphaba in Wicked, Mathew White, Ryan Forde Iosco, Lily de la Haye, Leo Wan, Janine Harouni and Abubakar Salim.
In Response to… The Orlando Attack will appear at the St James Theatre tomorrow night at 8pm. For more information and to book tickets visit: https://www.stjamestheatre.co.uk/studio/response-orlando-attack/.
