PREVIEW: Guys & Dolls, UK Tour, New Victoria Theatre

Gamblers, gangsters and singers – what more could you want in a musical? The UK touring production (currently also available to see in the West End) of Guys & Dolls arrives in Woking from the 26th to the 30th July.

Starring West End star Richard Fleeshman, Hollywood’s Maxwell Caulfield and West End star Louise Dearman,  Guys & Dolls is the hilarious and joyful musical about gamblers, gangsters and dolls all told through some of the most memorable Broadway songs including the title song and ‘Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat’.

Directed by Gordon Greenberg, Guys & Dolls follows gambler Nathan Detroit as he desperately tries to earn some cash to set up his illegal dice game.But a mountain of problems stand in his way not least his 14 year engagement to Miss Adelaide – whose patience is beginning to run out.

Enter the notorious gambler Sky Masterson who can never resist a bet and missionary Sarah Brown. Nathan then wagers Sky that he can’t persuade Sarah to go to Havana with him and if he does he will provide a dozen sinners for Sarah’s mission – what could go wrong?

This production, which is also currently running in the West End’s Phoenix Theatre, features choreography by Carlos Acosta and Andrew Wright.

Guys & Dolls is a celebration of Prohibition-era New York, and originally appeared on Broadway in 1950, before being transformed for the big screen starring Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando.

This revival features designs by Peter McKintosh, lighting by Tim Mitchell and sound by Paul Groothuis.
