New casting has been confirmed for a new production of Ronald Harwood’s The Dresser, arriving at the Duke of York’s Theatre from the 5th October until the 14th January 2017.

Joining the previously announced Ken Stott and Reece Shearsmith in Sean Foley’s production will be Selina Cadell (The Lady Vanishes, Doc Martin) and Harriet Thorpe (Absolutely Fabulous).
The news comes as the first images of Ken Stott as ‘Sir’ and Reece Shearsmith as ‘Norman’ are released.
Acknowledged to be Ronald Harwood’s greatest play, The Dresser explores the relationship between two men who are reluctantly co-dependent. With World War II raging in the background, an ageing, classical actor is unwilling to take to the stage to deliver his renowned performance of King Lear. So it falls to Norman, his dresser to prevent the show and its star from falling to pieces.
Ken Stott has received four Best Actor Olivier award nominations for his work both at the National Theatre and the West End. His stage and screen credits include Art with Albert Finney and Tom Courtenay, A View from the Bridge, The Hobbit and Rebus.
Meanwhile, Reece Shearsmith’s credits include: appearing in the Olivier and South Bank Award-winning Hangmen at the Royal Court, Absent Friends at the Harold Pinter Theatre and The Producers at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.
The Dresser will appear at the Duke of York’s Theatre from the 5th October until the 14th January 2017, following runs in Richmond, Brighton and Cheltenham.
