Steven Arnold (Coronation Street) and Linda Clark are to star in the London premiere of Joe Wenborne’s Broken Strings, which will run at the Tabard Theatre from the 6th to the 24th September.
Written and directed by Joe Wenborne, Broken Strings follows the story of Rose and David, who have never got on thanks to Rose feeling that daughter Susan married beneath her when she married David. But when Rose’s husband dies, Susan persuades her to come and live with them.
David reluctantly agrees, but things are turned once more on their head when Susan falls terminally ill. Her last words to her husband are: “Take care of Mum, promise me you won’t put her in a home…”.
Broken Strings is a heartwarming and heartbreaking account of how two people stuck in grief finally discover the truth about themselves as well as beginning to understand each other better and deal with their pain together.
Steven Arnold is best known for his role as Ashley Peacock in Coronation Street, a role which he played for 15 years. His theatre credits include: playing Sydney Chaplin in a recent UK tour of The Charlie Chaplin Story; Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream CSM Rivers in The Accrington Pals and Steph Aston in Thick as Thieves.
Meanwhile, Linda Clark played the ‘Carrionite Witch’ in Doctor Who, Jackie Busher in That Peter Kay Thing and Janet Dent in Coronation Street. One stage, she played Aunty Ivy in several national tours of Girls Night Out and its sequel, Girls’ Night Out in lbiza, Rita in The Real Monty Keeps It Up.
