PREVIEW: Children of Eden, Union Theatre

Stephen Schwartz and John Caird’s musical will return to London 25 years after its original West End production at the Union Theatre, running from the 10th August to the 10th September.

Children of Eden is the second production to take place at the Union Theatre’s new space, following on the heels of The Fix, currently playing at the theatre.

The musical is to be directed by Christian Durham, whose previous credits include Spend,Spend, Spend also for the Union Theatre. The rest of the creative team includes: choreography by Lucie Pankhurst, design by Kingsley Hall and lighting by Nic Farman.

Children of Eden is inspired by the Book of Genesis, telling the story of what it actually means to be a parent. When you bring a child into the world, you look after them, protect them and help them on their way. But one day you have to let them go.

Featuring music and lyrics from renowned composer Stephen Schwartz, best known for his work on Wicked and Godspell and a book by John Caird who worked with Sir Trevor Nunn in bringing Les Miserables to the stage.

Casting for this new production has yet to be confirmed.
