PREVIEW: Adler & Gibb, Unicorn Theatre

Following a successful Royal Court run, Tim Crouch returns to his provocative drama – in a stripped back production.

Written and directed by Tim Crouch, Adler & Gibb questions the ideas of truth and realities in fiction through a story of  a house raid and a raid on someone’s life.

In preparation for a film role, an actress goes to extreme lengths to get to the truth of the dead celebrated artist Janet Adler, who rejected the art world for a private life. Breaking into the artist’s house, the actress is searching for anything that will make performance more authentic -but ends up finding more than she bargained for.

Following a successful 2014 run at the Royal Court, Tim Crouch’s play is heading to the Unicorn Theatre in London before heading to the Lowry in Salford and LA in 2017.

Talking about the play Crouch said: “The scale and ambition of Adler & Gibb is new to my work and it means a lot to have an opportunity to re-visit it this year.  The Royal Court run in 2014 enabled me to stretch every aspect of the play to its fullest. I’m excited now to increase the reach of the writing while simplifying the demands of the staging.”

The new cast have been announced as Gina Moxley as Margaret Gibb, Cath Whitefield as Louise, Mark Edel-Hunt as Sam and real-life American MA Fine Arts student Jillian Pullara as the Student.

The production is co-directed by Andy Smith and Karl James. The creative team also includes: designs by Charlotte Espiner, lighting by Natasha Chivers and film by Christine Molloy and Joe Lawlor.

Adler and Gibb will run at the Unicorn Theatre from the 30th August until the 3rd September. For more information and to book tickets visit: https://www.unicorntheatre.com/AdlerAndGibb
