Adrian Berry’s play about a young David Bowie obsessive will be performed at the Waterloo East Theatre from the 18th October until the 6th November it has been confirmed.
The production, also directed by Adrian Berry, is a celebration of one of the most iconic music legends – David Bowie.
From Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads follows the story of a young man who suffers from an illness that no one understands. But when he receives an unexpected gift for his 18th Birthday, he is taken on a thrilling journey to London. He performs on the stage where Ziggy Stardust was born, finds himself in David Bowie’s bedroom and all the while discovering the truth about himself and his family.
Evoking Bowie’s London, the play features a thrilling soundtrack which nods to Bowie’s own heroes and influences and will be a fitting companion piece to Bowie’s own work Lazarus which also runs this October at King’s Cross Theatre.
From Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads will feature Alex Walton and the voice of comedian Rob Newman as Bowie.
Director and writer Adrian Berry said: ” I wanted to celebrate Bowie’s art and to take the audience on a journey to where it all began. In bringing Bowie’s history into the 21st century, we can see how his fans today relate to him and why he remains such an enduringly important figure in popular culture. This show will also be a celebration of the London that formed Bowie, creating his many unique characters and astonishing musical direction.”
Following its London run, the production will then embark on a national tour.
