The festival celebrating Japanese culture returns to London for the eighth year on the 25th September at Trafalgar Square.
This free festival is a day filled with Japanese food, music and dance – suitable for all the family.
For this year’s festival, there will be special performances from renowned Japanese performers – some of who will be appearing for the very first time in the UK, including a dance routine from the spectacular Aozasa Shishi Odori (deer dancers).
Japan Matsuri 2016 will also see the return of the extremely popular Radio Taiso musical exercise team that get thousands of people in Trafalgar Square to swing and stretch in unison. Meanwhile, Joji Hirota and the London Taiko Drummers will entertain audiences with heir mighty thunder drum sound and Taiju Fujiyama will amaze with Japanese magic.
While these events are taking place, visitors can enjoy a taste of Japanese cuisine from a host of different stalls or visit the family activities area where you can play traditional Japanese games or lean origami and Japanese calligraphy or dress up in traditional Japanese costumes.
