Hampstead Theatre have confirmed casting for the production, which will include Tamsin Greig, playing the role of Empty.

Joining the Olivier nominated actress will be David Calder, Daniel Flynn, Jessica Hynes, Sara Kestelman, Katie Leung, Matt McGrath, Luke Newberry, Lex Shrapnel, Katy Stephens, and Rhashan Stone.

Tony Kushner’s 2009 play follows a family who struggle to find meaning in a landscape that they don’t recognise, exploring humanity’s compulsive search for Utopias – both personal and political.

Gus Marcantonio, retired longshoreman, former trade union organiser, renaissance man, feels that the world has turned its back on everything he has fought for in life. With his sister, he summons his three grown children home, trailing the appendages of their chaotic lives, to their Brooklyn brownstone for the most unusual family reunion yet…

Tamsin Greig returns to Hampstead Theatre following William Boyd’s sell out hit Longing in 2013. Her other theatre credits include Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (West End) and Jumpy (Royal Court/West End).

David Calder’s theatre credits include The Audience (Apollo) and The Nether (Duke of York’s).

Katie Leung is best known for playing Cho Chang in the Harry Potter films. Her stage credits include: You For Me For You (Royal Court) and The World of Extreme Happiness (National Theatre).

The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures will play at the Hampstead Theatre from the 15th October until the 26th November. For more information and to book tickets visit: https://www.hampsteadtheatre.com/whats-on/2016/iho/
