The world premiere production of the new musical, written and directed by Michael Yale was officially launched in a special event yesterday (15th September) and will play at the Park Theatre from the 4th to the 29th October.
Members of the press were invited to the launch of this new and contemporary love story which also examines the lives of modern Londoners and the pressures of trying to have it all.
The show has only started rehearsals (a week and a half in), but even from the variety of songs that were performed at the launch, there was a real sense of the direction in which the musical was going to take. From the wistful but perky “Hey Prince Charming” to the funny and sharp “One More”, it is going to be a show for those who enjoy a modern musical and a refreshing outlook on life.
Take a bitingly funny and deeply touching tour of modern London life with Izzy and Jonesy. With exciting jobs, great friends and even a tiny overpriced flat in Zone 2 – they’ve got it all. Or do they? Maybe having a baby is the one last thing that would make everything perfect. Or maybe life has other ideas…
It is a story about the differences between desire of what the characters want their lives to be like thanks to the pressures placed on us by society and what life is in fact like.
The production is produced by Stage Traffic Productions, a newly formed theatre company set up by Michael Yale and Eilene Davidson (Producer). Meanwhile, the cast for the production includes: Gregg Barnett,Kate Batter ,Caroline Deverill and James Robinson.
The music for the production has been composed by Charlie Round-Turner to reflect the different character’s attitudes to life and relationships in a style which suits the plot and each character, with the press being treated to performances of “Hey Prince Charming”, “One More” and “My Life Story”, that revealed the chemistry between the cast as well as the potential in the music in terms of variety and style.
This Little Life of Mine will include set and costume design by Zahra Mansouri, choreography by Tracy Allsop and video artistry by Jack Henry James.
