Opening for previews on the 6th October, new images have been released of the cast in rehearsal for the production of David Hare’s new play.
Based on the novel La Main by Georges Simenon, David Hare’s new play will star Mark Strong, Elizabeth Debicki, Hope Davis, Michael Elwyn, Stuart Milligan, Anna Skellern, Oliver Wilson, Nigel Whitmey and Jade Yourell.
Robert Icke directs this production which follows the story of two couples who struggle to make their way home after a party through the snow. But not everyone will make it back safely.
The detective writer Georges Simenon escaped France at the end of World War II, moving to the USA to start a new life. Along with his American wife, the writer settled at Shadow Rock Farm in Lakeville, Connecticut. Years later, he wrote La Main, a psychological thriller set in a New England farmhouse.
David Hare took the original play and created a new play in which the action unfolds in Connecticut in 1969.
The production will feature designs by Bunny Christie, lighting by Paule Constable, sound by Tom Gibbons and video design by Time Reid.
The Red Barn will open for previews at the National Theatre from the 6th October and will play until the 17th January 2017. For more information and to book tickets visit: https://www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/shows/red-barn.
