The full cast for Josie Rourke’s upcoming Donmar production of Saint Joan, which will run at the theatre from the 9th December.
Joining the previously announced Gemma Arterton in Josie Rourke’s production will be: Fisayo Akinade,Matt Bardock, Niall Buggy, Richard Cant, Hadley Fraser, Simon Holland Roberts, Arthur Hughes, Rory Keenan, Elliot Levey, Syrus Lowe, Guy Rhys and Jo Stone-Fewings.
Saint Joan was written by Bernard Shaw, telling the story of Joan of Arc – a woman of many identities including daughter, farm girl, visionary, patriot, king-whisperer, soldier and woman.
This new production features design by Robert Jones, lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Christopher Shutt, music by Michael Bruce, video design by Duncan McLean and movement by Arthur Pita.
The play is based on on the life and trial of Joan of Arc and was originally published in 1924, following the canonization of Joan of Arc, Shaw dramatised key elements of her life based on records of her trial.
Previous productions have starred the likes of Imelda Staunton, Frances de la Tour, Imogen Stubbs and Anne-Marie Duff.
