The Royal Court Theatre has confirmed a new season of work from February to September 2017.
This spring and summer season will include eight world premieres, four UK premieres and international collaborations ,the return of a seminal Royal Court play and a new podcast series.
First in the new season will be A Profoundly Affectionate, Passionate, Devotion to Someone (-Noun), written and directed by Debbie Tucker Green and running at the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs from the 28th February until the 1st April 2017.
Then Simon McBurney will come to the theatre to direct The Kid Stays in the Picture , based on the life of Robert Evans. The production is co-produced with Patrick Milling Smith, Barbara Broccoli, Michael Wilson, Brian Carmody and in association with Complicite. The production will run from the 7th March until the 8th April 2017.
Nuclear War, directed by Imogen Knight will premiere at the Royal Court Theatre from the 19th April until the 6th May 2017. It presents a series of suggestions of desire, death and time.
The season will also see Jez Butterworth return to the Royal Court with his new play The Ferryman and will be directed by Sam Mendes , who will be making his Royal Court debut with the production which will run from the 24th April until the 20th May.
From the 10th to the 20th May 2017, Royal Court commission Manwatching will visit the venue. It is a frank and funny insight into heterosexual female desire, read out loud by a man.
Other highlights in the season include Gary Owen’s Killology , Alice Birch’s Anatomy of a Suicide , Jim Cartwright’s game-changing play Road and Chilean playwright Guillermo Calderón will make his Royal Court debut with B running in September.
