NEWS: Cast Announced for Joe Hill-Gibbins’ A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Casting for Joe Hill-Gibbins production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Young Vic Theatre from the 16th February has been confirmed.

This new production of William Shakespeare’s comedy sees the return of Joe Hill-Gibbins return to the Young Vic Theatre, following his production of Measure for Measure.

For A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the cast will include Michael Gould as Oberon, Anastasia Hille as Titania and Leo Bill as Bottom. Lovers Lysander and Hermia are played by John Dagleishand Jemima Rooper; Demetrius and Helena by Oliver Alvin-Wilson and Anna Madeley. Matthew Steer plays Peter Quince with further casting  still to be announced.

In a world of grotesque transformations and sexual provocation, repressed conflicts between lovers and their parents are released. Manipulation leads to complications and desire becomes dangerous. Heaving with the energy of a wild house party, Hill-Gibbins’ production dives into the subconscious of Shakespeare’s masterpiece.  

Joe Hill-Gibbins’ production will feature design and light by Johannes Schütz, with costumes by Michaela Barth, sound by Paul Arditti, movement by Jenny Ogilvie and dramaturgy by Zoë Svendsen.

The production sees Oliver Alvin-Wilson, John Dagleish,Anna Madeley and Matthew Steer all making their Young Vic debuts.
