Profile: Jo Harman

Since releasing her debut album, Dirt on my Tongue  independently  in 2013, the British singer has had her profile raised significantly in the last few years.

The singer has shared the stage with the likes of Patti Smith, Joan Baez and Sinead O’Connor and her music combines soul, blues and gospel to create a unique sound which saw her nominated for half a dozen nominations at the British Blues Awards.

Jo Harman’s latest album People We Become is set to be released on the 3rd February and was created in a studio in Nashville, Tennessee. The album is a very personal one, with songs including “Silhouettes of You,” “Changing of the Guard,” and “Person of Interest”.

To coincide with the release of the album, she will be embarking on an international tour which will see her performing dates in the UK as well as visiting Amsterdam and the USA, between the 2nd February and the 31st March.

People We Become is described as being very much a modern album but is firmly rooted in classic music of past generations.

For this latest release, the singer was looking to expand the genres in which she worked in and teamed up with longtime co-write, Mike Davies to create new music which took cues from classic artists such as Carole King, Cat Stevens and David Bowie – artists who she grew up listening to.

People We Become will be released the 3rd February and Jo Harman will be touring the UK and internationally from the 2nd February until the 31st March.
