PREVIEW: Oyster Boy, Blue Elephant Theatre

Haste Theatre brings their production of Oyster Boy to the Blue Elephant Theatre on the 2nd and 3rd March as part of its UK tour.

Revamped for this UK tour with the help of  Theatre De Complicite’s movement director Kasia Zaremba Byrne, Oyster Boy is about seeing past people’s differences and a bittersweet tale of the trials of love and what it means to be ‘different’.

Follow the tale of Alice and Italian ice cream seller Jim, who fall in love strolling along the beach in a 1950’s whirlwind romance. However, all is not as sweet as it seems when their lives are turned upside down by the arrival of their son Sam…a very unusual boy!

Oyster Boy is is inspired by Tim Burton’s poem The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy, the story is all about the fragility of life, introducing audiences to a variety of larger-than-life characters who are sure to entertain and delight by combining physical storytelling, clown, live singing, dance and puppetry.

The production features costume & set design by Haste Theatre, sound design by Paul Freeman and lighting design Paul Murray Stowe. It is performed by Eleanor Beaman-Brinklow, Valeria Compagnoni, Jesse Dupré,Lexie McDougall, Tamara Saffir and  Sophie Taylor.

Oyster Boy will play at the Blue Elephant Theatre from the 2nd to the 3rd March. For more information and to book tickets visit: http://www.blueelephanttheatre.co.uk/oyster-boy
