The production, directed by Benedict Andrews and presented by the Young Vic Theatre and The Young Ones will open for previews at the Apollo Theatre from the 13th July.
It has been confirmed that Sienna Miller and Jack O’Connell will star in the production, which is the first Young Vic production to make its debut in the West End.
On a steamy night in Mississippi, a Southern family gather at their cotton plantation to celebrate Big Daddy’s birthday. The scorching heat is almost as oppressive as the lies they tell. Brick and Maggie dance round the secrets and sexual tensions that threaten to destroy their marriage. With the future of the family at stake, which version of the truth is real – and which will win out?
Cat On a Hot Tin Roof is Tennessee Williams’ most recognised and popular plays, having been revived several times on Broadway and in the West End. It originally opened on Broadway back in 1955, going on to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama that same year before debuting in the West end in 1958.
This production marks a return to collaborating with the Young Vic Theatre for Benedict Andrews, having previously directed the theatre’s production of A Streetcar Named Desire at the Young Vic Theatre in 2014 that starred Gillian Anderson.
Sienna Miller’s previous stage credits include As You Like it (Wyndham’s Theatre) and Flare Path (Haymarket) in London’s West End as well as performances in After Miss Julie and Cabaret on Broadway.
Jack O’Connell first came to public attention starring in E4’s Skins as well as the film ‘This is England’. He won the 2015 BAFTA Rising Star Award following roles in ’71’ and ‘Unbroken’.
This new revival will feature set designs by Magda Willi with costume designs by Alice Babidge and lighting by Jon Clark.
