The news comes as Game of Thrones star Hannah Murray departs the production due to personal reasons.
In a statement, producers said: “It is with sadness that we have to announce Hannah Murray’s departure from ‘Posh’ due to personal reasons, unrelated to the production. However, we are thrilled the role of ‘Alistair’ will now be taken over by the fantastic Serena Jennings.”
Running at the Pleasance Theatre in Islington from the 29th March, Laura Wade’s hit play will be reinvented for an all-female cast.
Posh originally hit the stage in 2010 at the Royal Court Theatre, with a cast that included future stars such as Kit Harrington and James Norton which then transferred to the West End.
In the private dining room of a gastro pub, 10 young bloods with cut-glass vowels and deep pockets are meeting, intent on restoring their right to rule. As members of an elite student dining society, they’re bunkering down for a wild night of debauchery, decadence and bloody good wine.
Serena Jennings joins the cast to play Alistair. Her previous stage credits include Punk Rock (Edinburgh Fringe Festival), The Eccentricities of a Nightingale (The Webber Douglas), The Country Wife, The Oresteia, Titus Andronicus, Chatroom (Arcola Theatre), Lady Windermere’s Fan (The Embassy) and Wasted (White Bear).
The cast will also include Lucy Aarden, Cassie Bradley, Alice Brittain, Molly Hanson, Verity Kirk, Macy Nyman, Toni Peach, Jessica Siân, Sarah Thom, Gabby Wong, Amani Zardoe.
Meanwhile as well as being directed by Cressida Carré the creative team also includes: set and costume design by Sara Perks, lighting by Derek Anderson, sound by Harry Barker and is being produced by Tom Harrop for Can’t Think Theatre Company.
