NEWS: Casting Announced for Royal Court’s Production of Nuclear War

Casting for Imogen Knight’s production of Simon Stephens’ Nuclear War, playing at the Royal Court Theatre from the 19th April has been announced.

Nuclear War is a play created with a highly visual and physical language. Simon Stephens states on the play text that; ‘All of these words may be spoken by the performers but none of them need to be.’

Stephens has written this play with the intention that the words be interpreted and re-imagined through a highly theatrical and choreographic lens. Nuclear War will be an alternative theatrical experience about a woman, a city, desire and time. 

It has been confirmed that Maureen Beattie, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Gerrome Miller, Beatrice Scirocchi and Andrew Sheridan will all star in this unique theatrical experience, directed by Imogen Knight.

Maureen Beattie was most recently seen at the Young Vic in the critically acclaimed production of Yerma. Her other stage credits include The Winter’s Tale, The Cherry Orchard (Royal Lyceum, Edinburgh); Right Now (Ustinov, Bath/Bush/Traverse) and John Gabriel Barclay (Òran Mór).

Sharon Duncan-Brewster’s stage credits include: trade (Young Vic); A Streetcar Named Desire, So Special (Royal Exchange, Manchester); The Iphigenia Quartet, Yerma (Gate) and Swallow (Traverse).

Gerrome Miller has previously appeared in Something Inside So Strong (Arcola)and Children of Killers (NT Connections/Orange Tree), while Beatrice Scirocchi’s previous credits include Home (Arcola); The Skriker (Royal Exchange, Manchester) and Run, Missing (Engineer Theatre Collective).

Andrew Sheridan’s theatre credits include performances in By Far the Greatest Team (Monkeywood); The Skriker, Blindsided, Being Friends, Antigone, Jonah & Otto, The Rise & Fall of Little Voice, Across Oka, Port, The Ribcage (Royal Exchange, Manchester) and A Breakfast of Eels (Print Room).

The production will be designed by Chloe Lamford, feature lighting by Lee Curran and sound by Peter Rice.
