It has been announced that musical theatre actor Lucas Rush has joined the cast for the new UK tour of Thoroughly Modern Millie as Mrs Meers, the evil proprietor of the Hotel Priscilla.
The actor’s list of credits on stage, TV and film include most recently his performance as St Jimmy/Resident Director in American Idiot (The Arts Theatre & UK Tour), Emcee in Cabaret (Arts Theatre Aberdeen) and Apostle in Jesus Christ Superstar Arena Spectacular (Universal Pictures, Directed by Lawrence Connor).
He joins Strictly Come Dancing star Joanne Clifton, who plays the title role Millie Dillmount, a Kansas girl determined to make it big in New York City.
Based on the 1967 hit film starring Julie Andrews, Thoroughly Modern Millie is set in 1920s New York City, when ‘moderns’ including a flapper named Millie Dillmount were bobbing their hair, raising their hemlines, as well as entering the workforce.
The musical features a book by Richard Morris and Dick Scanlan, with new music by Jeanine Tesori and new lyrics by Dick Scanlan.
This UK touring production is directed and choreographed by Racky Plews, with musical direction by Robert Wicks.
