Casting for Mehmet Ergen’s production opening at the theatre the 11th May has been confirmed.
Joining the previously announced Greg Hicks as Richard III, the cast will include: Jane Bertish (Margaret),Jim Bywater (King Edward/Lord Mayor), Jamie de Courcey (Keeper/Richmond),Femi Elufowoju Jr (Rivers) ,Annie Firbank (Duchess of York), Peter Guinness (Buckingham), Mark Jax (Hastings/Ratcliffe), Paul Kemp (Clarence/Stanley),Sara Powell (Queen Elizabeth), Georgina Rich (Lady Anne) and Matthew Sim (Catesby).
King Edward is on the throne, and England is at peace. But don’t worry – it won’t be that way for long.Gripping and outrageous, Shakespeare’s Richard III is the tale of a ruthless, power-crazed misogynist who lies and cheats his way to the highest seat in the land.
Greg Hicks takes on the title role, following his celebrated performances as Macbeth, Julius Caesar, Coriolanus and King Lear for the Royal Shakespeare Company. He was nominated for the Best Actor Olivier Award, and won Best Shakespearian Performance at the Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards, for playing the title role in Coriolanus at the Old Vic.
As well as being directed by Arcola’s Artistic Director Mehmet Ergen, the creative team for the production also includes design by Anthony Lamble, lighting by David Howe and sound by Dinah Mullen.
