NEWS: Casting Announced for Nativity! The Musical

Jamie Wilson, Entertainment One (eOne), Ramin Sabi and Belgrade Theatre Coventry have announced casting for the world premiere production of Nativity! The Musical.

Opening at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre on the 20th October and directed by Debbie Isitt, Nativity! The Musical is set to star Daniel Boys who will play ‘Paul Maddens’, Sarah Earnshaw  as ‘Jennifer Lore’ and Simon Lipkin as ‘Mr Poppy’.

The cast will also include Andy Barke, Jamie Chapman, Jemma Churchill, Gary Davis and Katia Sartini.

Following its run in Birmingham, the production will then travel to Southend Cliffs Pavilion, Sheffield Lyceum, Manchester Palace, Plymouth Theatre Royal, a London season at the Hammersmith Eventim Apollo and a Christmas season at Leeds Grand Theatre.

Talking about the news of the casting, writer and director of Nativity! The Musical Debbie Isitt said: “I am absolutely delighted to be working with this incredibly talented and hilariously funny musical theatre cast who are going to be brilliant in Nativity! The Musical.  It truly will be an emotionally soaring, feel good experience with beautiful singing and amazing choreography.”

Every child in every school has one Christmas wish, to star in a Nativity, and at St Bernadette’s School they’re attempting to mount a musical version! Only trouble is teacher Mr Maddens has promised that a Hollywood producer is coming to see the show to turn it into a film. Join him, his teaching assistant the crazy Mr Poppy, hilarious children, unruly animals and a whole lot of sparkle and shine as they struggle to make everyone’s Christmas wish come true.

Based on the popular festive film, Nativity! The Musical will feature all of the songs from the film including  Sparkle and Shine, Nazareth, One Night One Moment, She’s the Brightest Star  as well many new songs written for the production by Nicky Ager and Debbie Isitt.

The creative team for the production will include choreography by Andrew Wright, designs by David Woodhead, lighting by Tim Mitchell and sound by Tom Marshall.
