NEWS: First Glimpse of Matthew Croke in Aladdin

The first images of Matthew Croke as Aladdin in the hit musical production,  has been released ahead of his first performance in the show on the 5th June.

Today Disney Theatrical Productions has released first images and behind the scenes footage of Matthew Croke as the title role of Aladdin, ahead of his first performance in the musical next month.

Matthew Croke joins the cast ahead of the production celebrating its first birthday in the West End on the 15th June and will see Jade Ewen and Trevor Dion Nicholas continuing in their roles of Jasmine and Genie.

The role of Aladdin marks Matthew Croke’s West End debut in a leading role. His previous credits include roles in in Annie Get Your Gun (Crucible Theatre), Singin’ in the Rain (UK Tour), Funny Girl (Menier Chocolate Factory), Shall We Dance (Sadler’s Wells), A Chorus Line(Crucible Theatre) and West Side Story (UK & Ireland tour).

Also joining the West End production will be Nick Cavaliere who will be playing the role of Iago, whilst current cast members Miles Barrow, Leon Craig and Daniel de Bourg will step into the roles of Omar, Babkak and Kassim. Don Gallagher and Irvine Iqbal will continue in their respective roles of Jafar and the Sultan.

The new cast will also include Chanelle Anthony, Danny Becker, Cindy Belliot, Filippo Coffano, Nolan Edwards, Sinead Kenny, Travis Kerry, Dann Kharsa, Tarisha Rommick, Joshua Steel, Monica Swayne, Damien Winchester and Niko Wirachman.

Danny Becker, Travis Kerry and Niko Wirachman join the production after entering international open auditions.

Disney’s Aladdin opened in London on the 15th June 2016, having previewed from the 26th May 2016 and tickets are available to book for performances up to and including 30 September 2017 for individuals and 10 February 2018 for group bookings.

Featuring classic songs including ‘A Whole New World’ and ‘Friend Like Me’, Aladdin is based on the 1992 animated film, featuring music  by Alan Menkin and lyrics from Howard Ashman, Tim Rice and Chad Beguelin. The show features a book by Chad Beguelin and is directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw.

The musical is designed by Olivier and seven-time Tony-winning scenic designer Bob Crowley, lighting by Natasha Katz, costume design by Gregg Barnes and sound by Ken Travis.
