DANNY MAC

The Strictly  Come Dancing star, who is currently appearing in On the Town at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre,  will be playing the role of Joe Gillis alongside Ria Jones as Norma Desmond.

Directed by Nikolai Foster, Sunset Boulevard is Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony Award winning musical, based on Billy Wilder’s film and features  Don Black and Christopher Hampton’s wonderful book and lyrics.

In her mansion on Sunset Boulevard, faded, silent-screen goddess, Norma Desmond, lives in a fantasy world. Impoverished screen writer, Joe Gillis, on the run from debt collectors, stumbles into her reclusive world. Persuaded to work on Norma’s ‘masterpiece’, a film script that she believes will put her back in front of the cameras, he is seduced by her and her luxurious life-style. Joe becomes entrapped in a claustrophobic world until his love for another woman leads him to try and break free with dramatic consequences.

Opening at the Curve Theatre in Leicester on the 16th September, the musical will then visit Edinburgh, Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham, Aberdeen, Dublin, Milton Keynes, Bristol, Woking, Southend and Bradford.

Sunset Boulevard features songs including  Sunset Boulevard, With One Look, As If We Never Said Goodbye, The Greatest Star Of All and The Perfect Year and will be performed by a full orchestra.

Further casting for the production has yet to be announced.

Sunset Boulevard will be on tour from the 16th September until the 26th May 2018. To book tickets for some of the venues visit ATG Tickets
