NEWS: Casting Announced for Road at the Royal Court Theatre

The Royal Court Theatre has confirmed casting for its upcoming production of Jim Cartwright’s play directed by John Tiffany.

A Road, a wild night, a drunken tour guide, a journey to the gutter and the stars and back.

“Why’s the world so tough? It’s like walking through meat in high heels.”

Jim Cartwright’s seminal play gives expression to the inhabitants of an unnamed northern road in Eighties Britain.

It has been announced today that Michelle Fairley, Mark Hadfield, Faye Marsay, Mike Noble, Dan Parr, Lemn Sissay, June Watson, Liz White and Shane Zaza will star in this new production directed by Royal Court Associate Director John Tiffany.

Jim Cartwright’s play originally played at the Royal Court in 1986 and returns to the theatre from the 21st July.

This new production will feature design by Chloe Lamford, lighting by Lee Curran, sound by Gareth Fry and movement by Jonathan Watkins.

John Tiffany’s previous directing credits includes Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, The Glass Menagerie and for the Royal Court The Twits, Hope, Let the Right One In ( National Theatre of Scotland) and The Pass.

Meanwhile, Jim Cartwright’s previous plays for the royal Court include Hard Fruit and  I Licked A Slag’s Deodorant (& West End). Other credits include: Raz (West End/UK Tour/Edinburgh Festival Fringe); Two (Young Vic); Eight Miles High (& Theatre Royal, Bristol), The Ancient Secret of Youth, The Five Tibetans and Two 2 (Bolton Octagon).
