Marking the 70th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence and celebrating diversity, ISHQ will make its UK debut at Sadler’s Wells from the 7th to the 9th September.

The legend of Heer Ranjha tells the story of a romance that created a revolutionary uproar, as one woman challenged a patriarchal society and shook it to its foundations. An adaptation of that classic love story, ‘Ishq’ was originally penned by the immortal Sufi Saint Waris Shah, and features specially commissioned music and choreography from across Pakistan and the UK.

While the story was penned more than 600 years ago by Sufi Saint Waris Shah, the musical features specially commissioned music and choreography from across Pakistan and the UK and is presented by Serendip Productions.

The production is directed by Farooq Beg and will feature set design, lighting and projections by Declan Randall.

Talking about the production director Farooq Beg said: “This musical is not just a romance but is a co-creation of Eastern and Western talent to create new sounds and moves, something that so symbolises Britain of today.”

ISHQ the Musical will play at Sadler’s Wells from the 7th to the 9th September. To book tickets visit: Ticketmaster.co.uk and Theatre Tickets Direct.co.uk .
