PREVIEW: Men & Girls Dance at Tate Britain

Fevered Sleep will visit Tate Britain to present an adapted version of their acclaimed dance piece between July 27th-30th and August 3rd-6th at 2pm-6pm.

The London-based arts company will bring a new version of Men & Girls Dance to the London gallery. It has been specially adapted for Tate Britain.

Men & Girls Dance will be performed at intervals  between 2pm and 6pm in the collection displays (on the main floor) by six professional male dancers and a cast of nine girls aged between 8 and 11. The piece reveals how friendship and positive relationships can happen between children and adults – without assumptions and stereotypes.

Talking about bringing the piece to Tate Britain Fevered Sleep’s Co-Artistic Director David Harradine said: “It’s really exciting for us to have been invited to re-imagine Men & Girls Dance for the historic collection at Tate Britain.  It opens up a whole new way for us to think about the material and its relationship to the audience.  We’ll be exploding the structure of the theatre version of the show, and turning it into a whole new piece that people will come across, perhaps unexpectedly, as they move through the spaces of the gallery. We can’t wait to discover how it will work.”

The cast of professional dancers taking part in the live performances will include: Robert Clark (choreographer, dancer), Nathan Goodman (Richard Alston, Shobana Jeyasingh), Kip Johnson (Protein Dance, Charlotte Vincent), Nick Lawson (Aletta Collins, Marc Brew Company), Matthew Morris (DV8, Clod Ensemble) and Anwar Russell (Matthew Bourne).

Men & Girls Dance by Fevered Sleep will perform at Tate Britain between July 27th-30th and August 3rd-6th at 2pm-6pm. For more information visit: http://www.tate.org.uk/whats-on/tate-britain/performance/men-girls-dance-tate-britain
