A new image has been released of Natalie Dormer and David Oakes in the upcoming production of Venus in Fur at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from the 6th October.
The first image of Natalie Dormer and David Oakes has been released ahead of Patrick Marber’s production making its West End debut later this year.
David Ives’ hit Broadway play will run at the Theatre Royal Haymarket for a strictly limited season from the 6th October until the 9th December, officially opening on the 17th October.
Enigmatic actress Vanda Jordan appears unannounced for an audition with director Thomas Novachek. She’s determined to land the leading role in his new production – despite seeming wrong for the part. Over one evening in downtown Manhattan their charged meeting becomes a seductive dance to the end.
Natalie Dormer is set to star as Vanda Jordan. She is best known for her performances as Margaery Tyrell in HBO series Game of Thrones and Anne Boleyn in The Tudors for Showtime. Her previous stage credits include Sweet Nothings (Young Vic) and .45 (Hampstead Theatre).
Meanwhile, David Oakes will be playing Thomas Novachek. He is known for his television roles including: Juan Borgia in the Emmy Award-winning Showtime Original series The Borgias and George, Duke of Clarence for BBC’s The White Queen. He has previously appeared on stage in Shakespeare In Love (Nöel Coward Theatre) and Mr Darcy in Pride and Prejudice (Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre).
As well as being directed by Patrick Marber, the creative team for Venus in Fur will include designs by Rob Howell with lighting by Hugh Vanstone.
Venus in Fur was first performed off-Broadway, New York in 2010 with Nina Arianda and Wes Bentley, before transferring to the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on Broadway with Nina Arianda reprising the role of Vanda Jordan alongside Hugh Dancy as Thomas Novachek.
