PREVIEW: The Addams Family, New Victoria Theatre

One of the most famous and kooky families you will ever know will pay a visit to the New Victoria Theatre in Woking from the 26th September.

Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, is all grown up and has a shocking secret that only Gomez knows. She’s fallen in love with a sweet young man from a respectable family. With his cherished Morticia in the dark will Gomez manage to keep his daughter’s secret until the two families meet for a fateful dinner with hilarious consequences?

Join them, plus Uncle Fester, Lurch, Pugsley and more for a heart-warming story of love, family and friendship… with a twist!

Directed by Matthew White and produced by Aria Entertainment and Music & Lyrics Limited, in association with the Festival Theatre Edinburgh, The Addams Family is making its UK premiere with this extensive UK tour .

As well as featuring a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, this production features choreography by Alistair David, production design by Diego Pitarch, musical supervision by Richard Beadle, lighting design by Ben Cracknell and musical direction by Andrew Hilton.

Bringing the characters created by Charles Addams to life, the production stars Samantha Womack as Morticia, Les Dennis as Fester, and Carrie Hope Fletcher as Wednesday with Cameron Blakely as Gomez.

Samantha Womack is best known for her role as Ronnie Mitchell in Eastenders. Her stage credits include Nellie Forbush in the Lincoln Center Theater’s Tony Award-winning production of South Pacific (Barbican Theatre & UK Tour), Michael Grandage’s West End production of Guys & Dolls opposite Patrick Swayze (Piccadilly Theatre) and Peter Hall’s production of Pinter’s Betrayal (Theatre Royal Bath).

Les Dennis most recently appeared in Coronation Street as Michael Rodwell. His theatre credits include the musicals Me & My Girl,ChicagoMonty Python’s Spamalot and Hairspray.  He took the hit one-man play Jigsy to the Edinburgh Fringe and in 2016 produced and starred in the sell-out 40th anniversary production of Alan Bleasdale’s Down the Dock Road at the Royal Court Liverpool.

Carrie Hope Fletcher’s  extensive stage credits include playing Eponine in Les Misérables (London and Dubai), Truly Scrumptious in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (UK & Ireland Tour), Beth in Jeff Wayne’s Arena Tour War of the Worlds, and Wind in the Willows (Regent‘s Park Open Air Theatre).

Previous theatre credits from Cameron Blakely include the role of Thenardier in Les Misérables, a role he played for two years in London’s West End. Cameron was also part of the 25th Anniversary at the O2, where he played Bamatabois. Other credits include Smee in Stiles and Drewe’s Peter Pan at the Adelphi Theatre and Fagin in Oliver! at The Watermill Theatre. He has also appeared in many productions at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, including A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet and The Taming of the Shrew.
