Shakespeare’s globe has confirmed full casting for the upcoming production of Emma Rice’s musical, playing at the theatre from the 20th October.
Adapted from the French-Belgian film Les Émotifs Anonymes written by Jean-Pierre Améris and Philippe Blasband, Romantics Anonymous is a story of courage and the journey to finding happiness.
The musical follows Angélique, a gifted chocolate maker inhibited by social anxiety, and Jean-René, the awkward boss of a struggling chocolate factory, in an unusual and tender love story about finding the courage to be happy. It is the final new production directed by Emma Rice as Artistic Director of the Globe.
The musical features book a written by Emma Rice, lyrics by Christopher Dimond, and music by Michael Kooman.
Meanwhile, casting for the production is set to include: Carly Bawden(Wonder.land, McQueen, Assassins, Pippin), Dominic Marsh (Tristan & Yseult, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg), Joanna Riding (The Girls, Carousel) , Marc Antolin (The Trial, Taken at Midnight), Gareth Snook (A Pacifist’s Guide to the War on Cancer), Philip Cox (The Mousetrap) and Natasha Jayetileke (Bend It Like Beckham).
The production is designed by Lez Brotherston and is presented arrangement with Radio Mouse Entertainment.
