It has been announced that the former football player and host of Match of the Day will lead a post-show panel discussing football related topics.
As part of Patrick Marber’s The Red Lion playing at the Trafalgar Studios, it has been announced that the former footballer and sports presenter will host post-show panel for Patrick Marber’s play on Monday the 20th November to discuss the football themes exposed in the play.
Talking about the news Gary Lineker said: “I look forward to seeing this new version of The Red Lion at Trafalgar Studios. It’s a premier league play about non-league football and you can join the cast and me for a post-show discussion on the play and the importance of these leagues in the wider game.”
A promising young football player arrives at a struggling non-league club and pits the veteran kit man against the ambitious manager who’ll do anything to keep the club and himself afloat.
The Red Lion is directed by Max Roberts and arrives in London following on from a run at the Live Theatre in Newcastle.
The show is set to star Stephen Tompkinson (Spamalot, West End; DCI Banks; Drop the Dead Donkey), John Bowler (It Just Stopped, The Orange Tree; Operation Elvis, RSC/Almeida; DCI Banks) and Dean Bone (The Terminal Velocity of Snowflakes, Live Theatre; The Savage, Live Theatre; Vera, ITV).
Meanwhile, the creative team for the production includes: designs by Patrick Connellan and is produced by Live Theatre and Trish Wadley.
