Goaded by the whispers of demons, the Macbeths (Jonathan Goddard, Eleanor Duval) unleash murder for their own gains and set in motion their path to madness and self-destruction, unravelling events in a nightmare they cannot control.
Featuring direction and choreography by Mark Bruce, a cast of nine will present Shakespeare’s classic tragedy, drawing upon drama, dance and film.
The production will be performed by Eleanor Duval, Jonathan Goddard, Jordi Calpe-Serrats, Christopher Thomas, Daisy West, Dominic Rocca, Hannah McGlashon, Steven Berkeley-White and Carina Howard.
Meanwhile, the creative team includes: set designs by Philip Eddolls, lighting design by Guy Hoare and costume design by Dorothée Brodrück.
Talking about the production Mark Bruce said: “Macbeth hits you fast, cuts through to the bone, and for me it is the least ambiguous of Shakespeare’s plays. Its darkness opens our nightmares; we recognise fundamental traits inside ourselves and the consequences of acting upon them. The vicious pursuit of power to fill a void will always be relevant – the Macbeths are everywhere in every age, because they are a part of us.”
