Full casting has been announced for Les Enfants Terribles upcoming immersive production playing at the Saatchi Gallery from the 14th November.
Here’s the story of a group of modern day, post-punk feminist badass revolutionaries who stuck two fingers up at the system and suffered the consequences.
Marking the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution, pull on the balaclava and stand up for what you believe in. Rock the establishment, stand in the dock as Pussy Riot and live the realities of imprisonment for the freedom of speech we take for granted. Would you sacrifice everything for the sake of a punk prayer for a liberal world?
This new immersive show from the creators of the Olivier nominated hit Alice’s Adventures Underground and Pussy Riot’s co-founder Nadya Tolokonnikova will run alongside the Saatchi Gallery’s Art Riot: Post Soviet Actionism exhibition.
Casting for the production is set to include: Alex Gilbert, Alice Ivor, Asha Reid, Beatrice Scirocchi, Cassandra Hercules, Charlotte Newton John, Elena Voce, Emily Stott, Fleur Rooth, Jenny Horsthuis, Marah Stafford, Mollie Lambert, Rebecca Ward, Rosalind McAndrew, Roseanna Brears, Sara Hooppell, Tamaira Hesson and Tamsin Dowsett.
Director Christa Harris said: “As Pussy Riot are an all-female, punk, protest group, we felt that this story would best be served by reflecting this in the casting. Of course, being a female is not a prerequisite to being a feminist, but as our cast are playing Pussy Riot playing various roles in the experience (a la Pussy Riot’s 2016 music video ‘Make America Great Again’), this felt like an important artistic and political decision to go forward with. We want to push boundaries with this production, and not only aim to inspire and empower our audience with the anarchic spirit of Pussy Riot, but most importantly show them the power of their own voices.”
The production has been written by Oliver Lansley and is based on the original idea by Peter Verzilov. Other members of the creative team includes designs by Zoe Koperski, lighting by Charlie Morgan-Jones, sound by Alistair Lax and projection design by Louise Rhoades-Brown. It is being produced by Les Enfants Terribles, Alexandrina Markvo and Nadya Tolokonnikova.
Inside Pussy Riot will be performed at the Saatchi Gallery from the 14th November until the 24th December. Tickets can be booked through See Tickets.com.
